Tribal Antidote- I


Mother Nature has provided us all gifts, from food to fuel and air to water. In this series I am going to share you some information about medicinal plants which has rich quality to cure our health problems. They are not even easy in use but effective as well. In this post we will know about such kind of very useful medicinal plant….which is commonly called Mahua.



MAHUA (Madhuca longiflia): The tree is found in every corner of the India and grows to 20 meters approximately; has shady leaves. Leaves are 5 inch in lenth and 3-5 inch in breadth. Flowers have very strong fragrance which spread all around the environment and make it pure.


Names in different languages:
Bengali: Mohua
Oriya: Mahula
English: Honey tree, Butter tree
French: Illipe, Madhuca
India: Moha, Mohua, Madhuca, Illuppai, Kuligam, Madhurgam, Mavagan, nattiluppai

Medicated use:
For cough:  in coughing you can take 2 to 4 spoons of juice of Mahua flower which will result you great relief.

Piles: take the paste of its flower mix with curd and have it twice a day- morning and evening.

Swelling of gums: apply of Mahua leaves around the swollen gums, reduces the swelling.

Skin infections:  Apply the oil Mahua seeds is good to get rid of itching and skin infections.
